Used to be great, but now hit and miss...took out salad bar, that was a mistake in my opinion

Quite good steak, a pretty decent house salad (cashews and bacon!), and onion strings with every steak. Service was super friendly, too. It was an enjoyable experience!

Perhaps we went on an off day but six of us arrived here on a Saturday night. 3 ordered the ribeye, 2 fish entrees, and 1 baby back rib entree. All three steaks were overcooked and charred with burnt areas all over the steak from what seems to be overcooking and an uncleaned grill. The fish were also overcooked and charred. The best one was the baby back ribs. These were cooked nicely and had good flavor.

I read all the great reviews about this place before going there and I was really excited about having dinner here. I was severely disappointed in this place. The service was the slowest I have ever seen. It literally took over an hour before any part of our meal was brought to the table from the one we ordered. The prime rib was so salty it was bitter. The rib eye had to be sent back twice cause it was over cooked and even the third time it was still over cook. I would t recommend this place to anyone it's a waste o perfectly good money

After searching for over an hour looking for a quality steakhouse to no avail, finally stumbled a upon this place.. Coming in as a weary travelers with my family we came in with a large group. The food and wait staff was absolutely incredible! Everything about it was unbelievable! Definitely coming back!

We came here because of good reviews, but were disappointed with the slow service and cold food that we finally received after waiting 30+ minutes after ordering. The management made lame excuses for the delay. Very disappointed

Cesar salad was nearly dripping dressing, the fried onion tangles that came with my steak were soggy, the 16oz bone in ribeye was a horrible cut of meat and mostly gristle, about half way through our meal we both finished our glasses of water and the server never came back to refill them. All in all dinner for 2 was $45 not including tip and I ended up feeding 2/3rd of my dinner to my dog after. I will never go back I wish there was a no star option for the reviews.

Went here on a recommendation from a friend. Drove from Ormond By the Sea to check it out. Seated right away, however it took FOREVER for us to get our food, which I can understand if it was crowded, but it wasn't! I could have forgiven the wait with an amazing steak. I went big with the $25 filet mignon because it was a "steakhouse" after all! Not anything to brag about and OVERPRICED! Really disappointing! Mile high burger was good, but they forgot some of the advertised toppings. Ribs and sirloin were also good per my company. Sides were all pretty good (onion strings, spinach, apples, sugar snap peas, and potatoes). Place was nice and server was good, but not impressed overall.

Lots of good food & at a great value. I went with a group of co-workers after work and we were seated immediately. The ale choices were good, top shelf drinks didn't disappoint. I ordered a juicy filet steak, sweet potato fries, Amaretto apples, and Mac-n-Cheese. The only thing I could've skipped was the Mac-n-Cheese. I'm a southern gal who likes a gooey cheesy baked concoction with a lil kick. This one was ok. Other than that the ribs, pork chops, and salads were all very good (I got to taste everyone's plate!) I will be back!!

A tasty little steakhouse of our local "[Your city here] Steakhouse" chain. My steak came out well-seasoned and cooked to perfection; they are obviously paying attention to what they're doing. The sides are quite tasty as well; typically steakhouse fare such as baked potatoes, caesar salads and steamed broccoli. There's probably more here, but this is enough to satisfy me each time I come back.

We went here based on the recommendation of a coworker and were not disappointed. Normally we try and do the seafood thing when we are at a beach but sometimes you just gotta get a little crazy. When you first pull up the place is quite underwhelming...it's in a strip mall. But lets face it, the whole Daytona Beach area is pretty much one big strip mall. Parking is a breeze as there is a huge strip mall parking lot. Once inside however, it's a different story. Very nicely decorated inside, great ambience, we were seated immediately even though it was race week, and our waiter was fantastic. For the food we both just needed the meat. She got the 9 oz sirloin (medium) and I got the prime rib. The sirloin was good. Now that we have that out of the way let me gush over the prime rib. I don't know if it's the best I've ever had but it's pretty darn close. It was awesome. If I had more money and no history of heart disease in my family I would eat that every day of my life. We skipped dessert this time as we had plans at another establishment later. We will definitely be back next time we are in the area. We give this place 4.5 oranges out of 5.

Oh no, another steakhouse in Daytona. Actually this one is pretty decent. My dinner experience was better than my lunch experience: food and service was better. The salad is really good, due in part to roasted cashews and bacon - great combination. Steaks came out close to how we wanted them, well close enough. Prices seemed pretty good.

While my boyfriend was gearing up for the Daytona 500 he wanted to do a date night and took the recommendation of his friend for this place. We skeptically walked in not really knowing what to expect because it is in a strip mall. But in truth, we were pleasantly surprised. We had a couple of wines and beers.. the waiter recommended the wine and was right on with his recommendation based on what I like. We opted for the vested shrimp and loved them! Awesome steaks... in fact Chris ordered a NY and surf...and a filet came out.. because they were out of the NY. We had caesar salad, potatoes... everything was done really well. The staff could use a bit of personality. But its small town and based on tourists, that being said.. the food was great!

It is what it is. For a local place, the dozen or so times I've been they do a great job on entrees, their salad bar is always fresh, it never takes too long for food to come out & the service is always great. Great appetizer many locals get is the kettle chips with bleu cheese! Great bang for your buck, in contrast to one of the reviews, I think its an inexpensive place for a great cut of meat or entree compared to the local chains around that serve you frozen food. Try it out one day!

This place is truly great. While we only come down to our place in port orange 4-5 times a year, we ALWAYS make sure to visit the P.O.S.H. I love the prime rib sandwich, and their sweet potato fries are amazing. One time we had a crazed man sitting at a table adjacent to ours, and his rambling and yelling at us did indeed disrupt our meal. Nonetheless, we tried the place again and the food was great. Thanks, Port Orange Steak House!

Mediocre at best. Our server, Nicki, was pleasant and friendly. One of our steaks (at a steakhouse) was insanely undercooked... which was still underwhelming when it was "fixed". The manager (whose name we didn't catch) couldn't have cared less. "It's a wood fired grill..." was his response...? Go elsewhere if you can help it.

We have been to the Port Orange Steakhouse every time we visit this area ( about twice a year). Our meal last night was once again fantastic! The bone-in ribeye was cooked to perfection with tremendous flavor. I chose the French onion soup as an appetizer and it was completely "home-made" with real onions and great flavor, unlike other restaurants where I am convinced they just add cheese to Campbell's soup. The baked potato was huge and very tasty. Our waiter was Louis, a young man with a very outgoing personality. It was a pleasure talking with him all evening during our meal. One waitress (Selena) that we had last year remembered us and came by to say hello. It is that type of establishment where you are remembered and made to feel at home. My wife had the exact same meal and was completely satisfied with it as well. There have been some very un-kind reviews on this site concerning this restaurant and we have NEVER experienced anything negative at all. And, we have eaten here at least 12 times in the past. A great steakhouse with great people!!! Thank you again.

This was my first time to experience the Port Orange Steakhouse I have been a frequent customer at their New Smyrna Beach location for a number of years and I wanted to see if there was any difference. Well my conclusion after eating here is, I'd say they are truly sister steakhouses. Immediately after entering I felt the ambiance was very familiar, it's a unique vibe not anything like the small economical steakhouse chains and certainly not like the higher end steakhouses, I think most are familiar enough with both types that there isn't any reason to mention any of those. We arrived a little past 8 PM and with the exception of a few parties scattered throughout the restaurant it was relatively empty. We we seated immediately and our server took our drink orders and delivered some warm bread and whipped bitter to the table. After looking over the menu I decided on the 16 oz bone-in ribeye medium rare and she chose the filet cooked medium. We both ordered salads to start she chose the Caesar and I went with the Wedge both were disappointedly just okay nothing terrible by any means but just poorly put together and bland the restaurant wasn't busy as I stated earlier and it's as if the kitchen was closing up and they were forced to serve a few more meals, no other customers entered the restaurant after we were seated. A few bites into the salads and out comes the food, again just a little odd I hate being rush and there is no need to apologize just don't do it. Her filet was perfect I substituted my bone-in ribeye for a plain boneless ribeye when I was made aware they were out of bone-in rib eyes after our server put the order in but what was served was a very dense New York Strip cooked medium to well. It's not hard to tell these cuts apart and I am sure I've eaten hundreds of both over time so I really had no doubt. I immediately brought this to the attention of our server and he told me he thought that was their ribeye no harm done he took it back and I decided to do without since her filet was getting colder by the minute and we came to eat as a couple not one at a time. The manager did come out and explained that they hand cut each steak and the chef must of gotten confused and offered to cook another steak or remove the steak from the bill I choose the latter. So not the best experience but I'm sure I'll give them another try down the road I did see the effort there and the one meal that was correct was actually pretty good I did get a few bites of the filet.

For how empty it was, you'd think that you wouldn't have to wait 5-10 mins for a drink refill. We ordered the artichoke spinach dip for an appetizer. It tasted pretty good except for the chips were fried and excessively greasy. Then the long wait began for our sandwiches. I ordered a Buffalo Chicken Sandwich and my fiance ordered a Mesquite BBQ chicken sandwich. About 20 mins later, the waiter came back and said,"you ordered the buffalo chicken salad, right?" As if I ordered something that wasn't on the menu. After another 15 minute wait (I reiterate it wasn't busy!) Our sandwiches finally arrived only for me to discover that it was missing the bleu cheese it said it was supposed to come with. With our waiter not around for me to request it, I began to eat the most foul tasting buffalo flavor I have ever tasted. It was sour and extremely acidic. My fiance did not look satisfied with her order either. It was mesquite BBQ paired with Dijon mustard on two soggy slices of some sort of multi grain bread. This place was good when they opened, but apparently they have decided that early bird specials, and low prices are the best way to go. Forget good service, be glad if you have silverware when you sit down because it can take a very long time to get any, and then only because we asked - twice - to have them bring it. Food was only OK, with two out of three entrees less than average. One order of ribs was good, one order of ribs was overcooked and dry on the small end, and the small sirloin was oddly shaped and over cooked on the thin edge and none of it cooked as requested (medium). The dog liked it, when we got home, so he's ok. There are better choices in town. Skip this place and try something new.

We've been coming here for years. Granted, there was a period before they downsized a couple of years ago, when we noticed a decline in quality. However it is once again our GO TO place for excellent steaks and burgers. If you are fortunate enough to be sitting at the bar when when Selina is working, you are in for a treat! She's a DYNAMO!!! Don't miss out on a visit to POSH.

Pros: This place is an easy choice for anyone dining in the Port Orange area. They have really tasty lunches that are appropriately priced and portioned. The dinners are the best though, really good steak and chicken. Haven't tried the fish dinners yet but its on my to do list (the lunch fish and chips are great though). Service is always very fast and on top of things. It can take a few minutes to get your bill at the end if they're busy but it's a comfortable place to relax. I really can't recommend them enough. Cons: I miss the salad bar. Overall: Amazing.

Just returned from the Port Orange Steakhouse on the recommendation of someone at work. I should have known better. Atmosphere: dinner on Devil's Island or in the last row of stands at the Daytona 500. Clientele: troglodytes. The quality of food was poor. Service: first time I tipped a server because of compassion. Actually , we had 3 servers throughout. It was difficult to whom the tip was destined. Quantity/quality vs. prices: poor. In a strip shopping center next-door to a pet hospital. It was dismal. Avoid it. I never said this about a restaurant, before. I could see who wrote good reviews for this place: locals who use the backs of their pickups as decks. You are better off going to Gaff's and making your own. Seriously. The porterhouse was laughable, the cold lobster tail could not be contrasted to a jumbo shrimp and the sirloin was vulcanized (rare). There was a greasy undercurrent to everything they served save the mini salads. Why did I decide on two stars? We reminisced about Eli's Cannon in Middletown, Ct, Blackbeard's in New Smyrna, and Texas Roadhouse in Port Orange. Imagine a chain restaurant being far superior to a local joint! Ugh!

In from Chicago visiting family and went the Steak House on a Monday night. Food was great, drinks were great, service was excellent and the tab was surprisingly modest. Whenever I travel away from Chicago I am always disappointed with food. Not the case here. I recommend it highly. Great place to eat, drink and socialize.

This is my husband's favorite restaurant his his hometown. I've been twice with him - once for his birthday a few years ago and then again for Thanksgiving last year. When we went on a normal night, the food was great. There's a shrimp appetizer that Jason and his mom LOVE...and I liked it too. They ALWAYS order steak and lobster, and I honestly don't remember what I ordered that time. When we were there for Thanksgiving, they offered a reasonably priced traditional Thanksgiving dinner, but when we arrived for our reservation, they were out of turkey. They substituted it with a chicken breast that was pretty good, but I was disappointed that I wasn't going to get turkey on Thanksgiving. My husband and mother-in-law ordered their normal steak and lobster. Our waiter that night (Thanksgiving) was wonderful. Lots of bread, and he even snagged a piece of apple pie for me before they ran out - without me asking. I'm all about people fighting for pie for me! We'll always go back, but next Thanksgiving I better get my turkey! Also, I believe they recently renovated the restaurant. It's beautiful inside now!

The two best steaks I've ever had have been from Port Orange Steakhouse. We stumbled upon this place for my birthday last year. It was late, and we weren't sure where we were going. I had my heart set on steak. We checked the GPS, and this was the closest steakhouse, so that's where we went. I am so glad! The ambiance is nice, definitely not what you expect walking into a strip mall restaurant. The salad arrived quickly, and my expectation level went up a notch. It was fantastic! The dressing was out of this world. When our entrees arrived, I was excited to dig in. I cut into my steak, and it was cooked perfectly. Actually, we all got steak, and they were all cooked exactly the way they were ordered. Everything on our plates was exactly right and offered much more flavor than we expected when choosing a steakhouse based on the GPS. :) The service was outstanding. The ambiance fantastic. The food some of the best we've had. We've been back and will continue to. If you have a chance to go, don't pass this gem up!

We looked for a nice and affordable "steak and ribs" place for my husband's birthday. Being on the beach all day we didn't get to dinner until about 8:45. We walked in and were greeted with a friendly "Hi Ya'll." We were seated and immediately asked for drink orders by a lovely waitress. We then overheard her tell another customer that they couldn't get another beer because the bar was closed. We realized then that they closed at 9pm. We felt awful because we aren't "those people" who show up at closing time. (me being a former waitress I have sympathy). Shortly after my AWESOME CHOCOLATE MARTINI arrived the manager/owner? stopped by and asked us if everything was ok. We said it was great (including the sweet tea) and we were sorry we arrived so late. She insisted that if we didn't mind the cleaning she didn't mind us taking our time and enjoying our dinner. She was absolutely inviting and even our waitress wasn't annoyed. The food arrived quickly and was DELICIOUS! Portions were great for the price, my Applewood Chicken was half the size of the plate! I had to move the sides to cut it up! Overall, this is a diamond in the rough. Even though it's in the Publix strip mall it is a true Southern Hospitality dining experience. As the manager said "There is a reason we've been here 12 years."

Had a business lunch here today. It was very good and very quiet at lunchtime. Was able to have a nice conversation with my client. We started with a the kettle chips drizzled with blue cheese sauce. Very good and for $5 the portion was huge and we did not finish them all. Easily would have served 6 or more. I had the grilled chicken salad and the grilled chicken was moist and very flavorful. The other 2 people in our party had a bacon cheeseburger and steak sandwich. Both said they were cooked perfectly and very nice. Great place to have lunch. Restaurant was clean and very well maintained.

This is the best place for prime rib. Service is always great and you get exactly what you want. Give me any excuse to eat out and I'm coming here. Love this restaurant.

Not a great steakhouse. I've eaten here a few times and each time the food wasn't that good or the service.

Ugh!

I went into the restaurant and it had an offensive odor. I left the restaurant right away.

The food is tasty but the ambiance and staff won't deliver a dining experience commensurate with the amount on your check.
